To begin, let’s go through the ingredients: apple cider vinegar, smoked pineapple, ginger, pineapple, carrot, lime juice concentrate, Carolina Reaper pepper, smoked onion, smoked garlic (olive oil, garlic), sugars (brown sugar), kosher salt, cilantro, and turmeric.
There are a lot of fresh herbs, spices, and tastes in this dish. However, the taste is mainly driven by the first three (together with the Carolina Reaper).
The sharpness of the apple cider vinegar (added by the lime concentrate) comes through straight away. The Carolina Reaper’s hit you right away, too, and their inherent sweetness complements the smoked pineapple wonderfully. And the ginger, combined with the pineapple, gives the dish a unique touch. The ginger is prominent (thus the name Ginger Goat), and the pineapple adds a tropical touch to this spicy sauce. You may put a few drops of this in your beach drink and enjoy it while lounging by the pool.

In Ginger Goat, the tremendous richness of the ingredients list far outweighs the requirement for a lot of salt. They also use kosher salt, which gives the dish a richer texture.
The pepper used here is the Carolina Reaper, which ranks at the very top of the Scoville scale (1,400,000 to 2,200,000 Scoville heat units or SHU.) A jalapeo pepper, for example, has just 2,500 to 8,000 SHU.
Granted, the spiciness of the chili pepper is reduced by the other components, as it is with any hot sauce. In comparison to the main actors in this sauce, Carolina Reapers are at the bottom of the list. The spiciness of Ginger Goat Hot Sauce is estimated to be about 55,000 Scoville heat units after dilution. That’s only a smidgeon hotter than a regular cayenne pepper (30,000 to 50,000.) It also matches Tabasco’s Scorpion Pepper Sauce (50,000 SHU.)
It’s certainly spicy, but the heat won’t make you scream on the first mouthful. It’s more of a gradual progression. Ginger Goat Original warms your whole mouth and strikes you in the back of your throat fast. You feel a tingling sensation on your lips as well, and everything seems to be in order at first. However, after a few of large bites, you’ll need to take a rest. Without any pauses in the eating, the Carolina Reaper creeps up on you and becomes into a back-of-the-throat burning.
The taste has a lot going on, so this degree of heat suits perfectly in. The heat is intense in the tropics. At times, the pineapple and ginger overpower the spiciness, but generally, the spiciness and flavor are well balanced.
So, how useful is a spicy sauce with this much going on? I’d think it’s quite useful. Ginger Goat Hot Sauce is a wonderful match everywhere that a tropical-like sweet heat is desired. I’ve used it on chicken wings, tacos, and steak.
Ginger Goat is best used as a finishing sauce due to the large amount of ingredients. A few drips here and there packs a powerful flavor punch. However, I don’t believe I’d use this spicy sauce as a flavor enhancer in the kitchen (or mixing into soups or non-tropical cocktails.) On the taste front, there’s just too much going on. You may alter a dish’s anticipated taste. Plus, using a lot of this spicy sauce will quickly increase the spiciness.
The sauce is fairly thick and the spout aperture is the size of a dime. It flows out well, and the thickness provides some control.
However, before serving, give the Ginger Goat Hot Sauce a good shake. There are many components in this dish, and they may settle. Your initial pour may be watery and flavorless if you don’t shake it beforehand. Shake vigorously, as directed on the label.
I’m particularly intrigued by the smoked components. I’ve never had a spicy sauce with so many flavors with a pleasant, fruity heat. It’s one-of-a-kind, which adds to its collectibility.
The label is straightforward, but the colors are striking. It combines the colors orange and black (perfect with the orange color of the hot sauce.) The line-drawn goat head has just the right amount of ferocity without being unwelcoming. However, there’s something lacking to make the bottle stand out from the crowd. It has a 2D vibe to it.
