I used to have a 4-star opinion on this place during my first two or three visits, but have to demote it to three stars after my last take out experience.
I live in the neighborhood so Kohan’s was an easy choice. My takeout order was EXPENSIVE and the fish was not as fresh as it normally is. I found the super white a little grisly, the hamachi was fishy as well as the tako sashimi. I think the only thing that was really good was the UIC …

Maybe I was a little buzzed after too much wine from dinner, or just intoxicated by the sweet scent of imported chocolate, but somehow Terrance persuaded me to buy lots of Belgian treats! I can’t say that he really would have had to try very hard, since I have a huge sweet tooth. And, I even learned something about waffles! Woo, yummy AND educational!
There are 2 kinds of waffles here: Zucker waffles, which are the big yummy looking Belgian waffles made fresh in the waffle …

Thanks, Bittersweet! Because of you, I looked like a thoughtful girlfriend who knows what she’s doing!
I was on a mission to find a lemon tart for my boyfriend’s birthday that would hold up to his strict lemon tart standards. (What can I say–when it comes to pastries and women, he’s partial to tarts!) He maintains that most lemon tarts out there do not actually have any lemon flavor at all. So like a good lil yelper, I searched and searched for a bakery that would do …

Came here for New Year’s Eve dinner with a group of friends and it was delicious and enjoyable! And a STEAL! For $55 we got:
Arugula, green apple and white anchovy salad w/ lemon honey oil –loved the white anchovies!
Black beluga lentils with roasted tomato, root vegetables and Enoteca sausage –this was total comfort food! Made my tummy happy. The sausage was super good.
Homemade gnochetti with parmesan, black peppercorns and a hint of truffle –also very rich, yet very simple. Simple yet addictive!
Tuscan wild boar stew, creamy …

I actually tried Crisp a few months ago, but my friends and I were just reminiscing about it, and I realized I never wrote a review!
I had been badgering Mr Man to try this place for ages, which is odd, since I am not really a fan of wings. However, Mr Man is a MADMAN for wings, and I thought he would like them. I know, I am so selfless.
We actually ordered takeout to bring over to our friends’ place for dinner. This was a great idea, because …

I have been here once for dinner (after getting denied at Kuma’s) and wasn’t all that impressed.
However, Katarina X recommended brunch here, and I was skeptical. Really? At an Irish pub? Mr Man was even LESS excited about venturing away from his favorite breakfast place.
I think this is my new favorite neighborhood breakfast place! We went on Saturday for the $5 Brunch. At first I was thinking, “OK, this won’t be that great. The portions are probably really small.” I was …

I have seen this tiny Italian eatery many times on the way to Mr. Man’s house and it has always looked so cozy inside, with soft candlelight and couples nestled together. It’s quite small… about 10 tables plus 5 seats in the window. I told Mr. Man that we should try it one of these days, then promptly forgot about it until a few weeks later when he suggested a romantic Sunday night dinner there.
Despite not having a reservation, we were able to snag a seat in the front window. …
