Butterfly Sushi and Thai – A “go to” favorite & byob!
First of all, who doesn’t love BYOB? If you’re a bit of a lush like Michelle and I and your dining budget is low for the week, Butterfly Sushi & Thai is an excellent choice for dinner anytime! Up until last year, there were outrageous lines to get into this restaurant any time of the week because of the highly affordable and good quality food – combine that with a no-corkage fee BYOB – this is a Food Whore Jackpot! BS&T recently opened up a second location which means that it is less difficult to get a reservation!
I’ve been dining here or getting take out from this restaurant for over 4 years and typically budget about $20 per person including taxes and tip. You’ll be so full, you’ll roll outta there!
My most recent discovery is the Thai escargots at Butterfly. I have never seen anything like it at any other restaurant and of course, it peaked my interest!

I’m a huge fan of French style escargots, the type that is bubbling in butter and pungent garlic topped off with a sprinkle of parsley. At Butterfly, the escargots are completely different – perfectly plump pieces of snails in a sizzling platter of thai style curry. Hints of lime, coconut, lemongrass and green curry – this is now a dish that will be part of my routine when I visit Butterfly. Having spent part of my honeymoon in Koh Samui Thailand, this dish brought me and my hubby right back the first days of our marriage! It’s amazing how smells can take you right back to your favorite (or worse!) memories!

The maki’s are all pretty standard – for the price, you can’t really go wrong. My favorite simple role is the spicy crunchy tuna – which has a nice kick to it and they are a good size here. I’ve seen other rolls where they are not larger than a dime in diameter! Here they are at least the size of a quarter! I also like the Godzilla roll whenever I’m feeling a bit more “fusion-y”. I too, think it’s dumb when someone ruins a maki roll with cream cheese but sometimes it’s a nice change from the norm.

I am a big fan of the sashimi here. They are cut nicely and the super white tuna is absolutely the freshest here. It melts like better in your mouth and the restaurant does a great job of serving the fish at the perfect temperature. When sashimi is too cold, like cheese, you will have trouble tasting the flavors of the fish. However, if it is not cool enough, then you may question the freshness of it. Here, it’s simply perfect!
